Frequently Asked Questions
Soundsta.sh lets you upload your audio files and listen to them from anywhere - your phone, your car, a friend's speakers - instantly, in full quality, through any web browser. No cables, no syncing, no fuss.
Unlike generic cloud storage, everything about it is built specifically for music producers: a clean player that doesn't get in your way, A/B track comparison, a fullscreen visualizer, secure sharing with time limits, and even a built-in store to sell your music directly to fans.
Getting started is straightforward:
- Create your free account
- Choose where to store your files - connect your existing Google Drive or Dropbox account, or subscribe to use Soundsta.sh's own built-in cloud storage
- Drag & drop your exported audio files onto the Stash page
- That's it - your tracks are now accessible on any device, anywhere, through any web browser
No - you don't need another subscription in order to enjoy Soundsta.sh to the fullest. If a recurring subscription isn't your thing, you can get a lifetime license with a single one-time payment. It unlocks all premium features permanently, with no renewals, no recurring charges, ever. The only thing exclusive to the subscription plan is the larger built-in cloud storage space — everything else is available with the lifetime license too.
Yes - and you don't even need a credit card to do it. Every new user who signs up for a free account gets full access to all premium features for 14 days, right off the bat. The only thing not included in the trial is extra Soundsta.sh cloud storage space, but everything else - the A/B player, fullscreen visualizer, advanced sharing, the store - is yours to explore without any commitment.
After the trial ends, you'll be prompted to pick a paid plan to keep premium features unlocked, or you can simply stay on the free plan. Either way, your content stays safe: any premium content you created (shared links, store listings, etc.) remains accessible for an additional 14-day grace period before being removed, giving you plenty of time to decide.
Unfortunately, no. When you connect Google Drive or Dropbox, Soundsta.sh creates its own dedicated folder within your account and only works with files you upload through the Soundsta.sh interface. It won't have access to your other folders or files.
Why? Because accessing all files across an external cloud storage account is considered highly sensitive by those platforms - it requires annual third-party security audits costing thousands of dollars, which is financially out of reach for us at this stage.
Soundsta.sh is currently a web app, not a native iOS or Android app. However, you can install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on your phone, which gives you an experience nearly identical to a native app - including a home screen icon, full-screen mode, and fast-loading behavior. See the question below for installation steps.
📱 On iOS (iPhone / iPad):
- Open Soundsta.sh in Safari
- Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen
- Scroll down and tap “Add to Home Screen”
- Tap “Add” to confirm
🤖 On Android:
- Open Soundsta.sh in Chrome
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner
- Tap “Add to Home screen” (or “Install app” on newer Chrome versions)
- Tap “Add” to confirm
More than a typical streaming service like Spotify - and that's intentional. Soundsta.sh streams your files at full, uncompressed quality, so a WAV or FLAC file will consume noticeably more data than a lossy MP3 stream. That's the trade-off you make for hearing your mix exactly as it was exported. That said, the impact is heavily mitigated by the built-in streaming optimization: files are buffered progressively rather than downloaded all at once, so you're only pulling data as you listen. In practice, occasional use on mobile data is perfectly fine - you'll mainly want to be mindful on very long sessions or when roaming.
Not yet - but it's high on the roadmap. Soundsta.sh was originally designed around a single playlist of work-in-progress tracks, and that focused simplicity is part of what makes it fast and easy to use. That said, we know different workflows call for different setups, and folder support is something we're actively working toward.
Absolutely - and we actively encourage it. Soundsta.sh is in active development with a long roadmap ahead, and user feedback is a big part of how priorities get set. Not every request will make it in, but every single one gets read and taken seriously. To submit a feature request, head to the Contact page (available once you're signed in) and select “Feedback” as the subject.
What people are saying
I originally created Soundsta.sh as a personal app to scratch my own itch and eventually ended up using it for years, completely abandoning conventional cloud storage services for audio hosting purposes. So hopefully, it can bring value to someone else as well!
